A Summer Home Inspired by Cool Blues & Natural Textures
There’s something about summer that changes the way we live in our homes.
The curtains stay open a little longer, fresh flowers find their way onto the table and suddenly every room feels lighter. We spend more time gathering with family, enjoying slow mornings with coffee in hand and making the most of the sunshine streaming through the windows.
At Lulu Loves Home, we've always believed that seasonal styling doesn't need to mean completely redecorating your home. Often, it's the smallest changes that create the biggest difference.
Over the last few weeks we've found ourselves reaching for the same pieces almost every day while styling the shop. Without really planning it, soft blue flowers kept appearing beside textured white ceramics, natural rattan and our favourite neutral cushions. Every time we stepped back, the room simply felt calmer.
A palette inspired by the coast
Some colours never go out of style.

Soft blue has always reminded me of peaceful mornings by the sea, open skies and those relaxed summer days. I am incredibly lucky to live by the coast, and during the heatwave last week, an evening swim became my little evening ritual after a very hot day. There was something about stepping into the cool blue water at the end of the day that instantly made everything feel calmer.
Perhaps that’s why I find myself coming back to blue time and time again at Lulu Loves Home. When paired with creamy whites and natural woven textures, it creates a home that feels fresh, relaxed and effortlessly calm.
Rather than introducing lots of bold seasonal colours, we’ve been layering different shades of blue through cushions, throws and delicate floral stems. It adds depth and interest while still allowing a room to feel light and airy.
And for me, texture is just as important as colour. Soft bouclé cushions, woven fabrics, natural rattan and relaxed linens all help to soften a space and make it feel instantly more calm and inviting
Faux flowers that last all season

I absolutely love fresh flowers, but realistic faux stems are one of my favourite ways to bring colour into a room and keep it there all season.
Our Ocean Blue Blossom and Blue Cosmos have become firm favourites in our own displays and some of our bestselling stems in store this summer. We seem to be constantly restyling them as they sell — always a good sign!
Styled in textured and Matt ceramic vases, they become a beautiful focal point on coffee tables, sideboards or dining tables.
Styling beautiful everyday pieces
Some of our favourite accessories aren't the biggest pieces in the room.

We've noticed this summer that simple styling often has the greatest impact. Allowing each piece space to breathe creates a calm, collected look that's timeless rather than trend-led.
A decorative bowl on a sunny windowsill.
A textured vase catching the morning light.
A favourite mug waiting beside a good book.
These are the pieces that quietly make a house feel like home.
The little moments
The homes we often love and remember aren't always perfectly styled.

They're the ones where someone has left their coffee on the table while reading a favourite book.
Where favourite pieces are enjoyed every single day rather than saved for special occasions.
That's the feeling we always hope to create.
Relaxed, Comfortable, Beautifully lived in.
Finishing with fragrance
No summer home feels complete without fragrance.

I’m a huge believer that how a home smells is just as important as how it looks.
In summer, I naturally move away from the heavier scents I love in autumn and winter and reach for something fresher — clean linen, soft florals and lighter fragrances that seem to suit open windows and sunny days.

As the seasons change, our homes naturally evolve with them.
This summer we're embracing cool blues and natural textures to create spaces that feel peaceful, welcoming and easy to live in. Whether it's a single vase of flowers, a beautifully woven tray or a favourite decorative piece, I believe the simplest styling choices often have the greatest impact.
I hope this little glimpse into my summer styling inspires you to slow down, enjoy the season and create a home that reflects your own style and feels completely yours.
Have a great July, Louise x
